Old Mancunians' Lodge

Having celebrated its centenary in 2006, the Old Mancunians' Lodge goes from strength to strength.

Originally founded as a 'closed' Lodge - one which draws its members primarily from one particular source, in this case the Manchester Grammmar School (both old boys and teachers) - there has been a new policy undertaken during the past twelve months.

In signing up to the 'University Scheme' the Lodge has welcomed into its ranks an intake of under-graduates and young professionals who live and work around the Manchester area.  Therefore, whilst the Lodge retains an attachment to the school, the make-up of its membership is gradually evolving.

Such a scheme, which has various Lodges supporting it around the country (Manchester, Bristol, Durham, London etc) has been a major success and promises to broaden the appeal of the Craft to a much wider audience.

In many ways, this reflects the more fraternal nature of Freemasonry and makes the Lodge all-embracing in terms of its members.  Gone are the days when it was the sole pursuit of the 'older' generation, the Craft is once again becoming the domain of the younger fraternity as well.

Should you be interested in Freemasonry and have links with the school, or simply reside in the Manchester area (or beyond!), please feel free to get in touch.

Please contact the Secretary for details.
