  • Recently retired MGS Chemistry teacher, Ian Orrell, arrived at John o'Groats on 3 June, having set off from Land’s End on 1st April to walk around 1,000 miles. For many years Ian led MGS’s Community Action programme, and his chosen charity is Emmaus (President, Terry Waite) which is soon to open an Emmaus Community in Salford.  Read his full log and see Ian's picture on arrival at John o'Groats.
    Ian has a webpage at where card donations can be made in a Gift Aid-efficient manner.  Alternatively, cheques payable to “Emmaus UK” can be sent to him at 52 Higher Lane, Whitefield, Manchester M45 7WE.  Please enclose your address and, if appropriate, the wording ‘I am a UK taxpayer and would like my donation to be treated as Gift Aid’, with your signature.  Gift-aided donations will provide an extra 28% for Emmaus.
  • OM Anthony Taylor arrived safely in Antigua on 30 March after his single-handed row across the Atlantic. Anthony left La Gomera on January 12 and kept a log at . He rowed in support of The Christie Hospital, Manchester.
